JOL BELIEVES IN TOP 6

Fulham manager Martin Jol is of the opinion that his club can finish in the top six this season.

Fulham struggled under Mark Hughes the previous season, and were once again expected to do the same under Martin Jol as well.

This is the first time Martin Jol has made his return to English football after being sacked by Tottenham a few seasons back. He impressed as the Tottenham manager and is once again continuing to do so as the Fulham manager.

Despite having a relatively low budget compared to the other Premier league teams, Fulham are currently in the eighth position in the table. They are only three points behind seventh placed Liverpool.

The crushing 5-0 defeat of Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend has given Fulham a new dimension. Previously, Fulham were regarded as a team that was extremely functional and did not play an attractive brand of football. This was often the case in the Roy Hodgson as well.

Hodgson is regarded as one of the best managers Fulham have had in recent seasons. However, Martin Jol is well on course to emulating the success of Roy Hodgson. Following the defeat of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Martin Jol has said that a top six finish is a reality for Fulham this season.

"Our target is still 40 or 41 points and then we try to get as high as possible in the league. If you are very positive then there is Newcastle or Liverpool ahead of us. If you are realistic, there is still a lot of good teams around us so hopefully we could end up in the top 10. It depends on a lot of things," said the Dutchman.

Martin Jol has transformed the likes of Clint Dempsey, who has been linked with major Premier league clubs in the last few months.
