Defeat leaves Jol angry

Fulham manager Martin Jol was left “angry and disappointed” after his side were thrashed 5-0 by Manchester United.

The London club found themselves three goals down before half time and although they improved after the break and almost got on the scoresheet on a number of occasions, Jol was still deeply unhappy with what he saw.

“They had eight attempts on goal and scored five goals. They played around us on the flanks and we did not defend well. Nani scored a header which tells you all,” he said.

He added that although his side did improve after half time it is “easy” to play decent football when you are trailing 3-0 and look to be out of the game. Those looking at the best Premier League betting would not have been expecting a come back.

Jol was also disappointed that the side failed to show enough aggression against United and called on them to make sure things improve for the next match.

He noted that there are several clubs with a similar number of points to the Cottagers and as such wins over the Christmas period could help them pull clear of the bottom half of the table.

However, Fulham face a tough run in their next three Premier League games, with trips to Chelsea and Norwich on the cards before they welcome Arsenal.

The club are just four points off the drop zone and they will need to ensure they get as many points as possible out of their Christmas fixtures to avoid being dragged into a relegation dog fight.
